DCD, commonly known as Dyspraxia is a motor disorder that affects 1 in 20 children. DCD affects the child’s development of motor coordination skills. In turn, poor motor coordination affects the child’s ability to learn and perform everyday activities. Mastering activities such as dressing, cycling, using cutlery, handwriting, gross motor skills necessary for playing, and organisational skills are challenging for the child with DCD.
This webinar is part of a suite of webinars, facilitated by Dr. Áine O’Dea, which will provide teachers and SNAs with tools to recognise the common features of DCD in the primary classroom. It will provide teachers and SNAs with a toolkit of tips and strategies to address children's challenges with DCD. The webinars will address how the class environment can be used to support inclusion. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a questions and answers session. This final webinar will allow attendees to pose specific queries or case scenarios about implementing strategies in the school setting.
